Well, what is wrong with everyone using the render() method for 1.0?
Because we sell the FOP processor as a SAX endpoint, so that the famous transformer.transform(source, new SAXResult( fop.getContentHandler())); can be used. Driving processing through SAX events is a major use case.
and we've had zero complaints on the user list about it.
We don't have much users using 1.0.
