In order to help, we'll need more info.
What is the FONT name? Is there a URL where it can be downloaded for
testing?
Which version of FOP (0.20.5? 0.91x? TRUNK?)
Which JVM/JRE? (1.3x, 1.4x, 1.5x?)
Also, you shouldn't need to create XML metrics files for Times or
Courier, as they're in the BASE-14[1].
