Jerry: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a question regarding the types of CPs offered by PADad.
I noticed that there does not seem to be support for “ISO-8859-1”. Is that correct? There are an “ANSI (Windows)” and “OEM (DOS)” listed. I have no idea what the “OEM (DOS)” one is, and I am unsure of exactly what CP the “ANSI (Windows)” is suppose to represent. I was thinking perhaps “Windows-1252” aka “CP-1252”; however, I cannot find a definitive answer.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “ANSI (Windows)” is the name PSPad use for your local used windows CP. For western europe we use “Windows-1252” aka “CP-1252”, which is the Microsoft implantation of “ISO-8859-1” “OEM (DOS)” point to the CP your system use for text in DOS-Boxes/Command line. Here this is microsoft's cp850 based on cp437 If you write an dos batch *.cmd/*.bat you should use this option,... if you use umlauts like germans do ;-) Jerry: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I am looking for is a way to save text in pure ASCII format. Would that be what the “OEM (DOS)” option is? If so, it should really be labeled better. Using the actual CP name would make things easier. -- Jerry -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They are all pure ASCII. For text used for windows gui apps, save as ANSI. For text used for dos batches use DOS. I think i have written something about this in my FAQs too? . -- greets, Stefan (pleased user since 1722) inofficial FAQs + Infos + Special Settings <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,49080,49082> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
