Geoff,
One last comment about PCAD, the user interface is good. Similar to
Protels easy to use, easy to figure out, but I dont really care for the
program too much. I have refferred to the program as bit-mapped crayola in
the past. We were using it for something other than it was intended to be
used for, Hybrids. Though it did the task, the round off (error) for small
stuff was worse than Protel's. We were using it to create die footprints
with 4 mil c-c pads. It worked but we were at the limits of the program
both graphically and what it could handle with the math. It worked, I
doubt if if most designs would ever push a program that far. So I guess it
might be a compliment rather than critism that it worked that well. I
never used Protel to those limits but I have looked at the resolution ,
layer capability, etc and feel that I could lay out Hybrids much easier with
Protel. Just looking for another Hybrid job.
