Good work. (And obviously, ditto to Ian Wilson for his efforts.)
However, I would suggest that it would be preferable to copy the
ExposePCBToMacro.hlp file to the 'C:\Protel99\Help' directory rather than to
the 'C:\Protel99\System' directory. The former directory holds the .HLP
files used to document other Servers (in the cases of those Servers for
which such files have been provided), so is the default location where
Protel (99 SE) would "look" when the user wants "on-line" documentation for
this Server and Process. (When I created the ZIP files which contain my
PcbAddon and SchAddon Servers, I defined a path for each of the files within
this, so that the .dll and .ins files (and an .ico file, for those using Win
98) would unzip to the System subdirectory, while the .hlp file would unzip
to the Help subdirectory instead.)
Maybe Protel will now proceed to provide their own Process to provide the
(Macro script using) user with X and Y coordinates within a PCB file.
Perhaps in the next major version and (depending upon how far away from
release it is?) maybe even in the next SP released for Protel 99 SE (which
is supposed to be on its way some time, and with big enhancements to the
AutoRouter Server).
On the addon-software front, Ian and I have encountered some complications
in implementing our PCB Inverting Server. It is not out of the question that
we can deal with these, but they will prevent us from releasing this in the
near future. However, for those who are interested in getting a feel for
what a PCB Inverting Server will be like, I hope to release an Inverting
Server for use with Protel *98* in the not too distant future. Users will be
advised at the time this is released...
Regards,
Geoff Harland.
