Otherwise item 1 above never happened There is a little flaw in your reasoning - you forgot that it works with Midori browser (I didn't want to install Chromium to test.) So, e.g. Fossil version [a2e1c48373] works with Midori here, but not with Firefox. The only problem is that my regular browser is FF and not Midori and it's painful investigating what's wrong with Fossil & FF combo.
