Matt,

I downloaded the fossology 1.2.0 and tried to install on Ubuntu 10.04. I had
1.1.0 installed with apt-get install command, but was not working. Now I am
trying to install by downloading the 1.2.0 version from fossology.org download
page.

I ran into a lot of dependancy issues. After cleaning up the Fossology and
Postgresql, it won't install fossology. I had to run the fo-installdeps to get
the dependencies installed. I followed the manual long instructions. At the end
when I try to start the postgresql, I am getting error message: could not
create shared memory segment, invalid arguement.

When I start fossology, it gives error: Logfile failure: permission denied.

I am thinking of installing Ubuntu OS and starting over, will that make a
difference in fossology install? I have spent the entire day trying go figure
out this fossology install.

This is bad advice for people using the packages, they shouldn't need to use
fo-installdeps or install anything else by hand. If there is a problem their is
either an inconsistancy with their system or packages or, less likely, a bug in
the packages.

Gurbax,

What distribution (name and version) are you using and what apt source are you
using to get the packages?

Thanks,
