Jabber/XMPP lets you change your password using a client. Empathy does not expose this option in its UI, but you can use Pidgin or Gajim on a one-off basis to change the password. And, yes, having an entry in GNOME Online Accounts for the GNOME infrastructure sounds cool, but I wonder how many people would be using it.
