The printer backup feature in the I/A Series does not actually "backup" a
printer. It is designed to tell CPs and System Monitors to send their alarm
messages to a different printer when the configured one is unavailable.

The Device Monitor is advised by a System Monitor of a printer failure and
it notifies the CPs and System Monitors to stop using that printer and to
start using the backup. When the Device Monitor is advised that a printer
is back on line, it sends a message to the CPs and the System Monitors
telling them that the original printer is now available.

This applies to "dead" WPs as well. When a WP is not available, the CPs and
SysMons are told by the Device Monitor to use a different WP.

Since reports are generated using a different mechanism, the "backup"
printer does not backup reports.

        Subject: Backup Printer for Report

        Hi all
I have 2 printers. one for alarms and the other for reports. I have
configured
in the system definition the 2 printers to backup each other.
When the alarms printers is off, alarms are printed on the backup
printer.But
whenever the report printer is off the other printer never works as
backup and
        prints the reports.
Does anybody know what is the problem?

        Thank you in advance
