Actually, I certainly think (and hope) that DoDi's goal is _not_ a "C frontend",
but to find _any_ possible venue to upgrade the code structure of FPC code.

Well - both ;-)

I would like to see my C parser working as an FPC front-end, instead of
producing intermediate Pascal code (in the SF ToPas project). Such a
front-end would allow to compare both code compilation and execution
speed of FPC with existing C compilers, and I wouldn't be surprised if
FPC shows up quite good in such a comparison. But that's only a hobby
task, a proof of concept, and a chance to learn (and document) more
about the compiler internals.

I admire his persistence and productivity and my suggestion for a fork
was not a trolling attempt (although it did start a flame, for which I
am sorry).
To get going, a fork needs some momentum and dedication and maybe
he is the person able to pull it off.

I'll start an according discussion in fpc-other, as soon as I get access
to that list. I hope that such a fork can be kept in sync with the SVN
trunk, at least for the compiler back-ends, somehow - Graeme?

BTW, the "Overview of all lists.freepascal.org mailing lists" link seems to be broken, in all web pages?

DoDi
