I am a mac, windows, and linux developer with a lot of pascal experience,
and the fact that
there hasn't been a Free Pascal release in over 5 years, gets me thinking
this project is in fact, deadlocked.

Can someone please explain what's up? Who is the project leader and are
they on this list?

Claude has read the piles of messages for me that I didn't feel like
reading, but it seems clear to me from traffic on -devel that FreePascal
has been in a quiet period for about four years, and that this, a lack of a
release master, rather than any massive disagreements, has lead to the
current rather sad state of things.

I can't brew install fpc on mac, I can't get a binary fpc in ubuntu or
debian anymore, the lazarus builds on mac fail because the released
binaries of FPC are wildly incompatible with recent Mac Os 26.3, and XCode
26.3 tooling levels.

I can build an alpha of FPC trunk on Mac OS, but it seems to me that
nothing is happening much. If there's a push to get a release out SOON,
let me know what I can do to help.
