In gmail's web client, the conversation view only shows the original
subject at the top, but it's still visible in the header.  When using
icedove (thunderbird), it's pretty annoying, though.  Anyone else having
this problem?  Is gmail screwing around with this somehow?

I see it, again with IceDove, and live with it provided that threading isn't messed up too badly.

More irritating is the very long lines that sometimes get inserted on behalf of some posters, which detracts from the legibility of their questions or opinions. I can't remember for certain, but I think that this was again a gmail issue.
