I can't speak to the text insets, but as far as the subscription versus outright license is concerned, I believe the differences are that the updates/bug fixes are automatically pushed for the subscription, but you have to download and install for the license; and if you stop paying the subscription, you will not be able to open or edit your files in Frame anymore.
