My point was that if the company was using InDesign, it would have to
be an early-enough standalone version that doesn't phone home to
Adobe. I use ID
CS6 standalone/non-subscription.
Perhaps the question has evolved to what applications are acceptable
on the corporate network, and which of them do folks on the list
think is the best one to migrate to, so as to avoid having to slog
through this effort going forward?
Despite its age, FrameMaker is still a great tool for the task of
technical writing and publishing. However, security issues in the
computing environments where it's used have become serious

The issue is installing and licensing the application. It WOULD be
installed on a standalone...mine. It still needs to validate by
connecting
to Adobe, and that's a problem.
BTW...all Adobe products do that, so bring ID into the equation does
nothing.

If a non-subscription version of InDesign is used on the corporate
network, a round-about approach could be to use the DTP Tools - MIF
Filter
for Adobe InDesign <http://www.dtptools.com/product.asp?id=mfid> to
convert MIF files InDesign. Within InDesign's own limits and
abilities,
the
conversion retains most, FrameMaker text formatting features and
specifications, and does its best to emulate page layouts.
