Joanna, Eudora was one of my first mail clients back about 25 years. Hence I assume that this software is not capable of handling Unicode charcters. Typing a Unicode character with the UTF-8 encoding may result in a 2-4 byte sequence which you see when the app can just deal with ACII or the Windows code page.
