I'll be giving a few performances of my maps-as-expanded-cinema project, *A Synesthete's Atlas <https://erictheise.com/a-synesthete-s-atlas>*, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to this run I'll appear on Gregory Scharpen's terrific *Arts in Review* program next Thursday, 11 Jun, on UC Berkeley's KALX. Radio waves at 90.7 FM or streaming <http://kalx.berkeley.edu/>, noon, Pacific Time. I believe his programs are archived for two weeks so you could listen later.
*Jun 13: Beauty Supply, downtown Oakland, California* *8p doors/9m show; $15 NOTAFLOF* It's been satisfying to work w/Max Abner to put this downtown Oakland show together. I'll do a solo set, followed by sets from these remarkable improvisers– Fred Lonberg-Holm: improviser/composer now living in the Bay Area whose list of collaborators includes Peter Brötzmann, Axel Dörner, Michael Zerang, and Joe McPhee. A new (one-time?) quintet consisting of: ・multimedia artist and musician Tasya Abbot ・Avant-Jazz vocalist extraordinaire Lorin Benedict ・electronic music composer Nathan Corder ・Emily Pothast and David Golightly of the ambient synth duo Hair and Space Museum –then finish with a set of cartographic improvisations in dialogue w/duos, trios, and other configurations of the gathered musicians. Beauty Supply prefers that their street address not be posted to the Internet so either sign up for the Occasional Missive that'll go out in the next day or two (https://erictheise.com/mailing-list/) or email me directly (before 3p day of show, please). It's spitting distance from the Oakland Tribune Tower and 12th St BART. *Jun 21: Garden of Memory <https://gardenofmemory.com/>, Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland, California* *5-9pm; sold out; volunteer opportunities may still be available <https://www.eventbrite.com/e/garden-of-memory-at-chapel-of-the-chimes-june-21-2026-tickets-1988685625239>* My first time performing solo in New Music Bay Area's long-running summer solstice extravaganza in this Julia Morgan-designed columbarium. Agnes Szelag and I will take turns performing in the Cloister of Cherubs. *Jun 28: West Oakland Sound Series <https://www.sfsound.info/>, Dresher Ensemble Studio, Oakland, California* 7:15pm; $10-$25 sliding scale I'll perform a solo piece for optical electronics, duo with pianist Christopher Harto, and give the West Coast premiere of a commissioned work co-created w/composer Shahrzad Talebi as part of dadageek's CAST program in Austin; that'll be performed by percussionists Suki O'Kane & Graham Viegut. Also on the program that night are Kole Galbraith (touring from Seattle) and locals Jaime Robles, poet; Nancy Beckman, shakuhachi; and Tom Bickley, recorders and electronics. *Jul 09: Center for New Music <https://centerfornewmusic.com/>, San Francisco, California* doors: 7:30p, show: 8p Solo performance. Hope to see you at one (or more) of these. Thanks, Eric
