You may or not know that we in Montréal have a thriving film scene with an ever growing interest in analogue production. We have a full service lab, MELS, which is part of a larger studio, production, and post services business.
The lab itself is under threat of closure. I know firsthand that it is not sitting idle. On the contrary, they work continually. So we're at a loss as to why this decision came down. It seems to be more an issue of space than anything else. There's a petition to keep it open. The English version follows the French.
