Pas de Deux by McLauren (I think) is a beautiful film.

I’m behind on reading this thread, sp not sure if it’s been mentioned yet, but 
there is a new book on exactly this topic:

Dancefilm: Choreography and the Moving Image, by Erin Brannigan



I skimmed a copy - there is  a chapter on Maya Deren, and other dance films 
with a more experimental take are discussed.  Seems like it would be useful as 
an addition to Dennis's recs.
