When I had my Libreto 50CT, I found that apm -Z (put into standby)
would not work if there were any interrupts pending. These include
any key releases that haven't happened by the time the suspend
suspended, disk, serial I/O (I think, I only saw this once) and mouse
I/O. If none of these things happened, it would standby correctly.
I'm not sure what to do about this....
