Probably just this: What about trying to port pkgin for FreeBSD, so that
pkgin can also be used on FreeBSD ?


We are working on pkgng[1], which is a complete rewrite of pkg_install instead of a higher level tool on top of it. Stay tuned for the alpha2 announcement.

If this solves the binary pkg-install problem in a generic
way on many plattforms (I have not looked at the implementation),
that might be a nice feature.
