The good news is that the autodetection of Xorg has improved a lot. In a lot of cases you can run 7.3 without xorg.conf. > Ja. You should make sure that this is not a hardware problem. Try using another monitor or another VGA cable. If you can get your hands on another graphics card (maybe built-in graphics on the mobo?) try that as well.
