Not sure what that means, though. And according to /usr/ports/graphics/sane-epkowa/Makefile, the latest version of the driver doesn't work yet because of runtime issues, so it builds an earlier version. It could just be that this version does not support your scanner yet. Maybe you should contact the port maintainer.
