Follow-up Comment #9, bug #16003 (project freeciv):

Original reason for this was that python was not wanted to be requirement for
building Freeciv (from release tarball, buildding directly from svn has
different requirements). If this is changed, appropriate configure check for
python should be added, as well as updating documentation.
