Including a desktop entry file in the installer is turning out to be a
major headache. Localization support in IzPack is pretty half-baked and
full support is limited to a small number of languages. The IzPack way
is to write a desktop entry template for every supported language. This
seems like a lot of unnecessary work, but it is doable. However, there
does not seem to be any way to include multiple languages in a single
desktop entry file, although the standard clearly supports this. This
would leave most of our translations out in the cold.

And there is no easy way to circumvent the problem, since IzPack does
not include the desktop entry file in the installer, but creates it from
the template at installation time, so we can't just replace the damned
thing after the installer has been built. Unless I have missed some nook
or cranny of the installation process, the only way to fix this is to
rewrite the installer. I'm not yet sure whether this is feasible.

Michael
