UDMA checks if VDS are active and if so, uses them to "lock" the buffer and obtain a physical address, else calculates the physical address itself. So in V86 mode without VDS, it may crash. It's tested only on M$ EMM386 and not on our EMM386 which lacks VDS support. It could probably try to detect V86 mode and REQUIRE VDS in this case, but this may be done by its new maintainer (if any). Seems that it's a "hot potato" though and no one is willing to continue Jack's deed.
