I can't tell yet because there's either a missing e-mail on list from you, or it's just because all your e-mails to the list are mashed together without any CR's and it's hard for me to parse them out, but it looks like you're sending me code optimizations again. As previously discussed, I'm not applying any pure code optimizations until after FreeDOS 1.0 release. Some of the ancient code in there is simply too fragile to mess around with unless a bug is involved, and there are better uses of the limited development, testing, debugging, and user resources in tracking and eliminating compatibility issues. But, to give credit where due, you're only a bit early now. Post-1.0 is a good time to discuss possible optimizations with whomever is the maintainer at that time. I did see a specific discussion of REP MOVSD. We also talked about that on list here too, along with a couple others. To be properly optimized, the code needs to track the CPU and make optimizations based on the chip. REP MOVSD is the best generic and simple optimization for quick development for a broad spectrum of computer types. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
