Hi!

It would be possible to add an additional screen to the installer
(probably only advanced mode) to use the /FORCE:CHS option.

That would be a good option to have, but I'd like to fix sys bootcode  so
lba code works and maybe make a multi sector fat32 version that supports
both chs & lba...

If you SYS on the same system where you work later, SYS will
detect whether or not there is FAT32 support.

I think you meant "LBA support" in this line. And indeed it does, but this doesn't work as intended if the target system doesn't support LBA but the installer system does.

Correct. I think this is sufficiently advanced (people who
install to a disk/image on one system, then copy it to some
other system) that it is okay to expect such users to do a
manual SYS /FORCE:CHS at some point on the installer system.

Also, the exciting other question is whether that Pocket386
supports LBA, but maybe in some incompatible way. Because in
that case, there would be a problem worth addressing in code.

If Pocket386 simply does not support LBA at all, then problems
only happen when users "transplant" LBA installs to non-LBA 386.

Which they may HAVE to do if there is no easy way to install by
booting some installer on the Pocket386 itself, but that would
be yet another, third topic to discuss ;-)

Regards, Eric
