You can sometimes find drivers for later RealTek NICs (1GbE especially) in
vendor packaging from HP, Dell, IBM/Lenovo.  You'll be surprised what
laptops, later desktops, thin clients have drivers.  ParkyTowers has a lot
of links and info about hardware and drivers that can be relevant for later
