Hello everyone,

I just quickly threw together the packages for the AMB based help reader that
may be replacing the existing HTMLHELP based version.

To try it out … download these two packages from the ibiblio repository

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/latest/util/ambread.zip

<http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/latest/util/ambread.zip>
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/latest/base/ambhelp.zip

<http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/latest/base/ambhelp.zip>

Then just run the following commands:

fdinst remove help
fdinst install ambread.zip
fdinst install ambhelp.zip

The amp based help launches through a HELP.BAT file. Since HTMLHELP’s
executable is HELP.EXE, you need to remove (or at least rename) that file or
just typing HELP will launch the wrong help system.

One nice thing about AMB is the “chapters”. You can do things like “help
ctmouse” and be taken straight to that section.

:-)
