If you're running X anyway, you might as well run the X version.
I also don't see much point in SVGALib --- if you're running full-screen
anyway, might as well make the most of it by directly grabbing the
video framebuffer. The whole idea of a text mode would be that you
can run through a telnet session... anyway, that's how I see it.
Don't need ncurses for that but it does seem easiest.
