The patch doesn't provide any functionality not available by using the stock mod_sql other than a SQL authenticator type, which really is just a hack for people who MUST retreive passwords from an external SQL database in some other format than what mod_sql needs.
I saw your post to the list further down my mailbox. to apply it, use the -p1 option to patch.
