Its depends completely on hardware, thread settings and operating system settings, however I expect a fully tuned FR server on any type of decent (current) hardware without the extra overhead of SQL etc would handle a few hundred thousand Auth requests per second withtout any trouble. I personally have never managed to put FreeRADIUS itself under load..
