Hi all,
I've been wondering if there is anything useful I can do over the Christmas
break to try and improve Codec2 or FreeDV.

One thing which springs to mind is starting to add some infrastructure to
FreeDV for turbo coding as described here:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=29952150

Does anyone know the best way to specify the error for an individual symbol
from the FDMDV signal? My initial naive approach is to use the square of
the error in phase angle and ignore any magnitude error but this is based
on the fact that it's easy to do rather than any kind of theory.

The other thing I'm hoping to do if I have time is to add random bit errors
to the 1200bps codec2 output and see if there are any especially important
bits - has anybody done this yet?

Regards,
Dan MD1CLV
