Subject: [Freetel-codec2] Freedv bug reports, wild wishes etc.

Hi list,

First: Should these issues be directed to the codec2 mailing list, or is
there another better place?

You may find further support here:

I am making myself busy trying to get experience with this exciting new
mode, but except for the
quickstart video, I cannot find any more detailed docs.
Several start-up guides are available, check these at freedv.org

 a.. Microsoft Windows Users
b.. Video Guide for Microsoft Windows Users
c.. Video Quick Guide to Microphones

What is the scale of the SNR meter, there are no markings on the axis.
It is a "bubble" indicator... it correlates with the SNR reading in the block below it.

Should the 1400 or the 1400V91 mode be used initially, I seem to have
guessed something went
wrong in the V 0.91, so bits have swapped around. But, since we are now
some month(s?) into
V.94, would not most people have had time to upgrade?

V0.094 is still in testing, not ready for public release. It has a compatibility mode for 0.91.

Is there any mode detect , and is this perhaps possible, i.e. the
ability for the receiver to determine
incoming mode/rate?
F6CTE's "RS-ID" is on the wish list which will provide what your
asking for..

What is the line below the waterfall ment to be? I only get a few
garbage characters there. Should
this be "inband data", i.e. callsign etc? Is there a way to inject data
(from outside the pgm?)
This is very low bit rate data with no error correction. It sounds like you
have not been able to decode a DV signal, yet. It does work. You
will need a signal with 4-5dB SNR.

I won't clutter the list any more for now, maybee these Q's should go
somewhere else.

Good Luck and C U on 14.236.
