We're going to make sure we're not breaking the codec, rather than just
making small deltas in arithmetic. But we really do need to cut the entire
project over to cmake and stop using autotools. The autotools files never
were very good at supporting additional development - they're a nightmare
to understand.
Having two parallel build systems that different camps are using will lead
to one party breaking the other's build with changes as Dave Rowe has
broken Dave Witten's build previously. Or, it will lead to finger-pointing
when something is even slightly different in the other build system as we
are experiencing now. We need to maintain one build system as a team.
Richard has put a lot of work into getting cmake working, and it would be
nice if the rest of the team would now support him in getting the
optimization issue resolved and the cut-over completed.
Thanks
Bruce
