The problem with DMR is that is TDMA multiplexing two signals in one 
12.5 Khz channel. This means that you must switch on and switch off the 
transceiver at a x times / second rate so you need to have access to the 
baseband signal of the radio. Concidering the bandwidth of the radio, 
you need a SDR radio. (*)

dPMR is FDMA in 6.25 Khz which you can implement with normal FM radios 
in 9k6 mode.


My vote go to the technology that we hams can easily build with the 
equipement we now already have. :-)

The only exception is the repeater when servicing two channels at the 
same time, as it can broadcast continuesly at that time.



BTW. TDMA implicates a maximum range (as TDMA has rather strict timing 
requirements, so also a maximum distance between the repeater and the 
radio). I do want to be able to do 10, 6 or 4 meter Es DX with my DV 
protocol. :-)
