I love the command line as well but with this project I've found it very
useful to set breakpoints/watch and built in semihosting.   And as with all
things a makefile could be generated as well.  I think space limitations
will mainly be memory as that where I've hit limits. Just moving to GIT
would help with submodule.  Also after having several projects on the
original HAL layer I can say the new one is much better and I see anything
that isn't BSD licensed in it as its ST Micro provided and they would like
you to build what you want with it.  It especially makes DMA, Timers, DAC,
ADC setup easier.
