Today, we have made a qso with quite good conds on 40m. Helmut and I have tuned down our output power until we could not decode the signal anymore. From the side of Helmut, I could fully detect the signal, when he was on 500mW. When he reduced to 100mW, I could not detect the signal anymore. But with 500mW, the SSB-signal was hardly noticable. Clearly, we have to make more qsos with different conds and users to verify these results, but the new mode seems really very very great! The old 1600mode could not be reduced to a level, where SSB was hardly noticable. I am very happy about these results. I will spread the information among amateurs, so that we can get more and more results.
