I have made some more measurements to separate the sinc-fir cycles from 
the freedv-rx cycles.

The result is:

Mode 700B: sinc-fir with 3840 Samples uses 646 usec (avg. over the 542 
Calls), freedv-rx uses 3480 usec.
Mode 1600: sinc-fir with 1920 Samples uses 323 usec (avg. over 1087 
calls), freedv-rx uses 1393 usec.

so, the total difference 700B to 1600 is 3480/ (2 * 1393) = 1.25 i.e. 
25% more cycles.
These data are consistent with the measurements given in an earlier post.
