Helmut, I am not sure if this part of your problem, but I have seen that in the 700 modes the frequency accuracy has to be a bit more precise with the other station, than on 1600 being a lot more forgiving.
Of course, having the sync carrier in the 1600 mode really helps lock the station in. Earlier today I was testing with 700c and found that 50hz and 100hz off was ok, but at 150hz the audio was lost. Even though the signals looked very good in the waterfall. Hope we can get to work you guys over there soon.
