yeah checksums/CRC with LDPC is redundant.... you get your CRC for free of course...

agreed on use of CS for uncoded reference.

I am usually using shorter blocks, with low code rates (1/5 etc). My stuff is all based around David Mackay's work.

The code is a (2064,516) code (r=4/5). 2064 being 256 bytes of packet data + 2 byte checksum. Yes, I could probably get rid of the checksum, it's still there for legacy reasons (and so we could compare PER of coded and uncoded).
