Hi Sam,

Yes set up can be tricky.  Yes I think there is an error in teh digram
in the manual, as you say, no point in connecting p12 and 13.  I'll fix
that.

Couple of ideas on the 817:

1/ Check your pin out to the 817 is correct by looking for +5V between
(3) to GND(7).

2/ Try triggering PTT on the 817 by manually shorting 6 and 7

3/ If that works try connecting the SM1000 PTT GND (12 or 13) to 10 or
11.  All the grounds are isolated by default, so you need to explicitly
connect them.

4/ Mic GND (4) should be isolated from SPKR Ground and connected
directly to 11.

5/ Should SPKR (1) be connected to 16?
