There seem to be no problem: I added a ``-O'' in the freevo startup
script, it took a little while (more that usual) to recompile the .py
files into .pyo, and then it ran faster. Perfectly safe, I would say.
What about trying ``-O -O''? It says to remove comments or something
like that. It might produce even smaller code.
