Hmm. I can't get any output to the console when I try to access the
Recorded Shows menu. strace doesn't show anything either. How can I get
some debug output?

Once freevo gets into that condition, the keyboard is effectively locked
out, no way to Ctrl-C to exit (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to force-quit X works),
unless I'm logged in remotely where I can kill the process from the remote
terminal.
