  Are you sure you are not loading bttv or other non-ivtv TV card
drivers. I was getting this exact error when trying to use the ivtv
plugin when my card was using the bttv drivers. Granted I have not had
a chance to test it against my PVR 150 card to be sure it was just the
driver cuasing my issue. My 1.5.4 install is just to busy to loan out
it's card :)
