The patch provides the OSDWriteText command, for writing arbitrary info to the OSD. I also implemented parameter passing via stdctl so that precise positioning (e.g. SetPosition% 63 or so and seeking to end of (live tv) stream) becomes available. Both functions are needed for a better ivtv_xine_tv. I have no idea when the patch makes it into a xine release, so we'll have to wait until the responsible developer pick it up.
