Next time, _read_ the whole post instead of skimming.  I said I had
PURGED the previously installed packages via DPKG/SYNAPTIC or MANUALLY
DELETED them.

Ummmm, no.  1.7.2 was PURGED.  I started with a blank space as if there
had never been a Freevo installation.  Again, next time, _read_ the
whole post instead of skimming.

And, no, I'm not going to bother with a bug report unless and until
someone else has the same issue.  This may be an extremely isolated
incident due to the version/configuration of Python or my system.
