Yes. Beacon has the concept of a 'media'. Each entry is part of a
media, the local harddisc is a media always mounted. As default the
beacon query only works on available media, but you can also search
for files on all media entries in the db.

Each media has a name, that's it. But for a DVD movie on the disc
beacon provides additional information.

Yes.

I would love to have some apps based on beacon, e.g. photo tagging.
