Gotcha.... I thought it was a pygame error appearing when xmame or something was being 
started... I now see its appearing when starting Freevo itself :-)

I did initially have some trouble getting dxr/sdl working, I had to get a version of 
ffmpeg that was a slightly different version for the patches to apply cleanly. Still 
cant get it to work as an SDL display device (neither the dxr3 or SDL lists could 
help) for anything other than freevo or mplayer though; though it works great for both 
of those.... I think the error is something like 'unsupported vid_depth8 in 
vid_depth16' or something like that... its been a while since I looked.

Just a thought about something that got me the first few times round... is the right 
libSDL being loaded, rather than any included one.. (runtime provided?) I copied the 
dxr3 version over the top of the freevo provided one for simplicity.
