I just have album covers named "front.jpg" or "front.png" in every album
directory.
This has always worked well, and stopped working in 1.7.0
I do not have files named after the songs, only the front.* files.
Note that this still works in playlists.

Somehow I don't think that this code about line 288, The file name has
been processed so that for example "My_Song.mp3" -> "My Song.mp3" and so
the cover look up will look for "My Song.jpg".
Is this what is happening in your case?
